Proud Baggies nominated for FSA award
The Football Supporters Association has shortlisted Proud Baggies for best supporter’s group out of the Championship as part of the Fans for Diversity Awards 2025, set to take place at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium on Friday September 26.
On their awards page, the FSA says that “The Fans for Diversity Awards celebrate supporter groups, organisations and individuals who make the biggest contributions to our campaign while breaking down barriers to the match.”
Proud Baggies are one of five fan groups nominated from within the Championship:
Charlton Athletic Supporters Trust (Charlton Athletic)
ESEA Hornets (Watford)
Rovers SAS (Blackburn Rovers)
Proud Baggies (West Bromwich Albion)
Hull City DSA (Hull City)
The other six categories cover the tiers of English football from the Premier League through to Non-League football, as well as a Women’s category and the new “In Off The Bar” category to recognise the work going on outside of those established networks. Fans may recognise some familiar names in that category including Football v Homophobia and Desiballers.
From the Midlands, Aston Villa have their Villa Bellas nominated in the Women’s Game category, and Birmingham City’s Blues 4 All are also up for the award. Punjabi Wolves are representing Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League category alongside Proud Forest for Nottingham Forest and Leicester 4 All for Leicester City, whilst Brakes Trust are representing Leamington FC in the National Game & Non-League category.
In the press release, Fans for Diversity campaign manager Hannah Kumari said: “It’s important to recognise the supporter groups that make the Fans for Diversity tick, without them we simply wouldn’t have the impact we do. There’s fantastic diversity and inclusion work going on across the game – that’s reflected in some very strong shortlists. Good luck to all of our nominees!”
The seven winners from September’s awards will then make up the shortlist for the overall Fans for Diversity Award at the national FSA Awards to be held in December - though a specific date for that event is yet to be confirmed.
The September meetup is Free Entry and will last from 11:30am until 6pm. Anyone interested in attending can register over on Eventbrite, but there’s a good chance Proud Baggies will send a few delegates so do speak to Piero Zizzi first perhaps…
