PBFC vs Chess Club FC
Proud Baggies FC hosted a home friendly today vs Chess Club FC at the George Salter Academy in West Bromwich.
Kick off was at 1pm, and both sides battled the humidity as well as each other in a close game which saw the visitors come away 2-1 winners.
PBFC took the lead in the first half thanks to yet another goal from Dayle Kirby, and we awarded a well-deserved PBFC Player of the Match award to captain Tom Hogan, whose running, composure, and physicality were the heartbeat of the team and drove us on the whole 90 minutes. We also wish defender Sabby Choi a speedy recovery after an unfortunate Achilles injury.
Both sides attended a post-match social mixer at the Soho Tavern nearby for a chance to chat and get to know fellow LGBTQ+ players from out of town, and we thank Chess Club FC for coming down from Liverpool to give us a game. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we return the favour!
Finally, big thanks to Marika, Jack, & Shereen’s families, and to Sophie, for coming along to support!
