Celebrate the Rainbow Laces Campaign
West Bromwich Albion’s league match against Swansea City on Sunday 8 December (midday kickoff) will be the annual Rainbow Laces game, where the club will show its support for Stonewall's inclusivity in sport campaign.
Central to the activities is the unveiling of our Fan Mosaic which will be shown in the stadium before kick off. The Albion first-team players will perform their pre-match warm-up in Proud Baggies T-shirts as an act of solidarity with our supporters group, and a rainbow flag will greet players as they come out of the Hawthorns tunnel. Our captain will also wear the Stonewall armband.
In addition, Proud Baggies patron Richie Anderson has featured in Albion News, and Richie will be co-hosting as match announcer on the day.
The Albion Women’s team will also have their Rainbow Laces game on the same day, against Lincoln in the Women’s FA Cup second round. The game was postponed from last weekend due to a waterlogged pitch, meaning the Third Round draw has already been completed and the winner will face Southampton in the next stage.
Due to the poor weather and fixture schedule, neither side has played for three weeks. Louis Sowe’s side are unbeaten at home in their last five games however, beating Leafield Athletic 2-0 most recently in the Birmingham County Cup.
The Women’s game is a 1pm kick-off at Walsall Wood Football Club, on the Lichfield Road in Walsall Wood. General entry is £5 for Adults and £1 for concessions, though a reminder for days that don’t see a match clash is that season ticket holders can watch for free.
